Accounting Configuration

A guide to configuring processing Fynapse for your organization.

The majority of this configuration is performed by users with the following security roles assigned:

Calendars

Calendars are collections of dates created to assist system processes in determining when processing should occur, what dates should be used for certain types of accounting entries and aspects such as which fiscal period accounting should be entered.

Business Calendars

Business Calendars allow you to set working and non-working days in a time period. It provides flexibility in scheduling exceptions, such as non-working days when some or all daily processes within an organization do not take place.

Fiscal Calendars

Fiscal Calendars facilitate both the regulatory and custom requirements for financial reports wherein organizations are required to prepare and publish detailed financial reports on an annual basis and often, slightly less detailed reports on a quarterly or half-yearly basis. Internally, organizations will wish to report on a more regular basis than that required by the regulators.

Subledger Nodes

Subledger Nodes represent the key organizational units at which accounting is controlled and reported. A Subledger Node can represent e.g. an entity, a product, etc. They are defined in conjunction with Accounting Bases.

Accounting Bases

Accounting Bases are units of fixed configurations of settings which can later be used as accounting base for different reporting requirements, such as IFRS or US GAAP.

Dimension Sets

Dimension Sets are fixed sets of Subledger Dimensions, attributes used to define the level of granularity at which the balances are aggregated.

Chart of Accounts

Chart of Accounts is a complete organized list of every account configured in Fynapse. It ensures that the Accounts entered on the Accounting Rules Navigator screen are referenceable in the system and provides a check whether Journals posted in Fynapse are posted to the correct and valid Accounts.
