Database Configuration and Management

A guide to configuring database in Fynapse for your organization.

The majority of this configuration is performed by users with the following security roles assigned:

Journal Line Definition

Journal Line Definition allows you to create the configuration for the Journal Entity that will store Journal Lines comprising Journals in the Subledger. This is the de facto target of data processing in the Accounting Engine.

Journal Line Definition is the first step in definiting your data model. Without a Journal Line Definition you cannot create a Business Event Definition.

Business Event Definition

Business Event Definition allows you to create the configuration for the Business Event Entity, which stores raw ingested financial date that is later processed by the Accounting Engine into Journals.

Journal Mapping

Journal Mapping is the process of mapping source data fields, from e.g. Business Event Definitions or derived attributes, to target data fields in Journal Line Definition.

Data Structure Definition

Data Structure Definition is where you create Reference and Transaction Entities where you can store e.g. reference data that you can later use for enrichment.

Validations

Validations allow for any set of source data to undergo simple validation or combination checking. Such user-defined validations are general, i.e. they refer to all Fynapse modules. You can define validations for Defined Entities in the Data Structure and Protected Entities such as Journal or Business Event.
