Use the Journal Explainer skill to understand a specific journal in Fynapse, including its debit and credit lines, the configuration that generated it, and the business meaning behind the entry.
The skill retrieves the complete journal, traces its lines back through the relevant Fynapse posting configuration, and explains whether the journal matches the configured accounting pattern.

The Fynapse MCP Server must also be connected to your AI client. The skill uses the MCP Server to retrieve the journal and the Fynapse configuration required to explain how it was generated.
What you’ll get
The explanation is returned directly in your conversation and includes:
- A summary of what the journal represents
- The complete debit and credit line structure
- The posting component and accounting pattern that generated the journal
- How posting codes resolved to GL accounts
- Whether the journal lines match the configured accounting pattern
- Relevant business context and caveats
The skill distinguishes between the journal data itself and the configuration that generated it, allowing you to understand both what was posted and why it was posted that way.
Journal and configuration data are retrieved from Fynapse, but explanations of their business meaning are AI-generated. Review them for accuracy before relying on them.
Configuration trace
Where configuration is available, the skill traces the journal through its generation chain, including the business event, posting component, configured DR/CR pattern, and account resolution.
It also compares the resulting Journal Lines with the configured pattern. If the actual journal differs from the expected configuration, the discrepancy is highlighted rather than treated as a normal result.
Excel voucher

Things to know
Journal Explainer works with posted Journals available through the Fynapse MCP Server. A Journal that has not been posted, or is in error earlier in the processing flow, may not be available to the skill.
If the information you provide matches multiple Journals, your AI will ask you to select the Journal you want to explain rather than assuming which one you meant.
The skill validates the Journal Lines against the Fynapse configuration where possible. Differences such as unexpected accounts, additional lines, or debit and credit sides that do not match the configured pattern are surfaced as part of the explanation.
The skill explains accounting treatment using the journal data, configured Fynapse accounting logic, and available business context. It does not infer business intent that is not supported by that information.
