Support for Multiple Currencies

Reporting Currency

As part of the on-going implementation of support for multiple currencies, we developed the ability to include Reporting Amount and Reporting Currency in Journals generated by Fynapse.

Now you can define the Reporting Currencies on a new Currency Configuration screen. Each Reporting Currency you define will require a Reporting Amount Ccy field in the Journal Line Definition, e.g. Reporting Amount USD for Reporting Currency USD.

Subsequently Fynapse will be able to process Business Events which contain Reporting Currency and Reporting Amount and generate Journal Lines with these attributes.

Calculating Reporting Amount from Transaction Amount

As part of the on-going implementation of support for multiple currencies, we developed the ability to perform FX conversion calculation for the Reporting Amount based on the input Transaction Amount. The Reporting Currency is calculated as follows:

Transaction Amount*exchange rate for a specified date

The FX conversion calculations will be performed based on the exchange rates defined in the Exchange Rate Entity.

Aggregating Balances in Reporting Currency

As part of the on-going implementation of support for multiple currencies, we developed the ability to aggregate balances in Reporting Currency.

When you enable support for multiple currencies, then on the Balances screen you will be able to select which currency you want to aggregate the balances by: Transaction Currencies, Functional Currencies, Reporting Currencies, or combinations of them.

You will also be able to select Reporting Currencies as filtering criteria when creating a query, in addition to Transaction Currency and Functional Currency.

Error Management

We implemented enhancements for the Errors grid. Previously, you were not able to customize the grid or change the order in which data was displayed because it was by default sorted descending by date (that is, from the latest and most recent errors to the oldest ones). Now, you will be able to sort data also ascending, set which columns you want to hide or display, as well as change the size and order of selected columns.

Finance Data Service

We implemented a new Finance Data Service screen, that will allow you to view a list of Entities you created in Fynapse.

This is part of the on-going implementation that will be released in increments.
