2025.1.3
Knowledge Base
Fynapse Knowledge Base has been migrated to a new format.
The new Knowledge Base is available here.
You will be required to register to the new Documentation Hub, which now hosts Fynapse documentation. Please note that to register, you have to click the “Sign up“ link. You will be redirected to a new screen where you have to type in your organization’s e-mail and create a password.
Once you have a login, you will be able to access documentation independently of the application.
REST API
We developed new API endpoints for Entity Management, Data Ingestion, and Bulk Operations. The full list is available in the API Changelog and accompanying Integration Guides are available.
Approval Workflows
Released under Feature Flag
We implemented the Approval Workflow functionality, which allows you to set up a mechanism that does not allow applying any changes to the configuration without reviewing and consequently approving or rejecting them. This means that any changes done to the configuration will be applied and visible in Fynapse only after approval. We added three product areas that can utilize configured approval workflows:
- Accounting Rules Navigator
- Finance Data Service
- Adjustment Portal
The functionality is made of two separate screens:
- Approval Workflows that you will use to configure a multilevel approval workflow for a selected product area
- Approval Requests that you will use to approve and reject requests with changes, as well as track them.
To use the Approval Workflow functionality, except for enabling the proper feature flag, you need to create a workflow configuration first via the Approval Workflows screen.
If you enable the Approval Workflow functionality, then uploading and submitting files via the Uploads screen (in Finance Data Service) and Adjustment Portal by the same user is permitted.
For more details, refer to Approval Workflows.
Fiscal Calendars
We implemented an enhancement that allows you to configure custom Fiscal Calendars on the Fiscal Calendars screen.
For more details, refer to Fiscal Calendars.
Extraction Logs - Rerunning Extracts
We implemented a new feature that allows you to rerun extracts. Previously, it was impossible to rerun extracts from Fynapse GUI, now you can do this on the Extraction logs screen. The feature is available for extracts that have the Completed or Failed status for the Extraction status. However, some extracts cannot be rerun due to configuration errors or the fact that the Entity for which the extract was run does not exist anymore, even if they have the Failed status.
For more details, refer to Extraction Logs.
New Ingestion ID Format
Released under Feature Flag
We enhanced the functionality which allows you to ingest data into Fynapse. The new ingestion ID is in UUID format. Enabling this feature does not change historic IDs.
New ingestion_id Function in Flow
We introduced a new function in Flow, ingestion_id. This function returns the Ingestion ID of the input record that was the source of data used in the Flow.
Security
Patch: On March 25th 2025 we released editing capabilities for Roles.
We implemented the Security functionality that allows you to manage security settings and control users and their access via Fynapse GUI. We developed three screens to foster configuration of particular elements of the security:
- Groups for adding, editing, cloning, and deleting groups as well as mapping external groups to Fynapse groups
- Users for adding, editing, cloning, and deactivating users
- Roles for viewing available user roles
In the future release, you will also be able to create and edit roles via the Roles screen.
- With the release of the new Security functionality, you will require an admin superuser to manage roles and permissions. You need to raise a request with Aptitude Software Support to grant someone in your organization admin credentials.
- To setup configuration of IdP via SSO you need to raise a request with Aptitude Software Support.
For more details, refer to Security Management.
Known Issues
The email that should allow you to create a password as a new user is not generated automatically by the system. In order to create a password for your user, once your system administrator informs you that your user was created, go to the Fynapse login page and click the Forgot Password? link and follow the instructions to setup a password.
Patch
The issue where the system wouldn’t send an email that allowed you to setup a password as a new user has been resolved.
Now, when a new user is created, they receive an email with a link for setting up a password for their Fynapse account.
